چکیده
INTRODUCTION In any discussion of beef cattle production in a particular environment the matter of climatic adaptability is of prime consideration. Adaptation for beef cattle might be defined as the ability to reproduce, grow and thrive under local environmental conditions. Much has been written about the ability or inability of temperate zone breeds of cattle to adapt to hot, humid, subtropical environments. Most of the research on this subject has been summarized by Cunha et al. (2) and Koger et al. (4).

Evaluation of Crossbred Calf and Cow Types; Subjective Traits
Data in this experiment consisted of birth weight, calving score, thickness and grade records of 600 crossbred calves. Angus, Brangus, and Gelbvieh sires were mated to purebred Hereford cows. Yearling and 2-yr-old Angus-Hereford, Brangus-Hereford, and Gelbvieh-Hereford daughters then were bred to Polled Hereford bulls (Data Set 2). Later-parity Angus-Hereford, Brangus-Hereford, and Gelbvieh-Her...

A study was conducted to compare Brangus, Beefmaster, Gelbray, and Simbrah breed influences for economically important traits. Brangus (9), Beefmaster (12), Gelbray (10), and Simbrah (7) sires were used in purebred and crossbred (Brahman x Hereford F1 cows) matings to generate calves (326) in eight breed groups. Beefmaster cows were of similar size (448 kg), Brangus and Gelbray cows were 11% he...
متن کاملEffects of breed group by location interaction on crossbred cattle in Nebraska and Florida.
Data on 2,744 calves produced in Clay Center, Nebraska and Brooksville, Florida were used to evaluate the importance of genotype x location interactions on the reproductive and maternal performance of eight breed groups of F1 crossbred cows. A total of 648 F1 crossbred cows included Bos taurus x Bos taurus (Bt x Bt) crosses: Hereford x Angus reciprocal crossbreds (HA and AH), Pinzgauer x Angus ...
متن کاملThe Influence of Growth Hormone Gene Polymorphism on Growth Rate of Young Cattle
Beef production is an important development area in animal breeding with meat quality being determined by both paratypic and genetic factors. In this regard evaluating genetic material for the presence of desirable allele combinations of genes associated with growth and development indicators, as well as meat qualities of animals have a certain scientific and practical significance. The aim of ...
متن کاملCharacterization of topcross progenies from Hereford, Limousin, and Piedmontese sires.
Breeds of larger mature size tend to grow more rapidly and be older when attaining a given level of fatness. Hereford, Limousin, and Piedmontese are of approximately equal mature size and yet may vary in body composition at a given degree of maturity. However, direct comparisons among these three breeds were not found. Therefore, the objective of this research was to compare Hereford, Limousin,...
